The winger had no choice but to leave Celtic, according to the former president of Liel Abada,

who made the shocking assertion that the supporters had treated him “disgustingly.”

Head coach Avi Luzon, who oversees Abada’s old team Maccabi Petah Tikva,

is hoping for a large salary as the wide player is getting closer to signing a £10 million contract with Charlotte FC.

Before the Israel international departs to take a designated player berth at his new club,

the Scottish Premiership champions and the Major League Soccer team are hammering out the last arrangements.

Due to personal concerns and the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, Brendan Rodgers left the player off the squad for the victory over Hibs last month. Since then, he hasn’t played.

Abada’s native country is putting pressure on him, thus some of the Celtic support have added to the problem by flying flags and demonstrating their support for Palestine.

Although Rodgers regularly speaks with Abada, he has previously refuted accusations in Israel that the player had been mistreated in the street during the crisis.

However, Luzon tried to shift the blame back onto the Celtic supporters in an interview with Sport 5.
When questioned about the move, the club president stated: “Liel Abada felt really horrible about everything that was going on,

including the outrage of the people on the street toward him – multiple times.

He was treated horribly by the fans, who gave him no other option.

“I’m glad he’s settled in a nice area. His contract was upgraded with a double salary in the summer because Brendan Rodgers wanted him.

Therefore, at the start of the season, they did want him. It wasn’t pleasant for Liel to feel welcomed and the nasty looks she received.”
