Scott McKenna, a defender for

Nottingham Forest, has been discussing

his future in light of January’s ties to

Rangers.

The 27-year-old Scotland international

center back was expelled from the team

early in the season due to altercations at

the City Ground, and he is currently on

loan at FC Copenhagen.

It now appears like McKenna will be

leaving Aberdeen when his contract ends

at the end of the current campaign,

nearly four years after he left for the

illustrious English club.

However, Scott McKenna has stated that

he isn’t considering it just yet. His

remarks follow significant connections to

Rangers and Celtic during the January

transfer window.

Regarding the Rangers, Scott McKenna

discusses his future.

Speaking to the Press & Journal in

Aberdeen, Scott McKenna maintains that

he is simply trying to maximize his six

months in Denmark rather than

hurrying into a choice.

A spot on the Scotland plane to Germany

for Euro 2024 is another goal of the

former Dons star, who has his sights set

on a medal as the Danish Superliga

winner.

McKenna remarked, “I just need to

concentrate on trying to play well.” Then,

ideally, leading Copenhagen to a league

title. Right now, that’s all I can really

think of.

And maybe, I’ll do well enough for

Scotland manager Steve Clarke to think

about include me in the squad for Euro

2024. There are many wonderful things

to look forward to.

Scott McKenna moved on loan to FC

Copenhagen in January and is set to face

off against Manchester City in the

Champions League this week. It comes

after the defender played in the club’s 3-1

first leg defeat to the Citizens in Denmark

almost three weeks ago. Ibrox transfer

would risk Aberdeen ire With Scott

McKenna’s future undecided as things

stand, we suspect transfer links between

Rangers and the Nottingham Forest

defender won’t be too far away come the

summer. Old Firm rivals Celtic – for

whom McKenna holds a childhood

affinity – are also likely to be mentioned

after Brendan Rodgers failed with a £5m

bid for the centre-back in 2019.

The P&J report also discusses the

additional £1.75 million that McKenna,

who was originally valued at £3 million,

was able to secure for Aberdeen after

moving to Forest in 2020.

McKenna has stated that it would be the

least he could do for his former

teammates, reaping greater rewards in

the event of Premier League promotion

and eventual survival.

It seems certain that any financial

goodwill will vanish should the defender

ever sign with the Rangers, but anything

may happen in the summer.
