Reported £3.8m star could’ve played final game for Gers after ex-Ibrox media partner update

Rangers could be without Colombian winger Oscar Cortes for up to three months due a muscle injury, according to the man behind Four Lads Had a Dream.

Stevie Clifford, who has close ties to the club, made the disclosure when speaking on the Rangers Review’s Morning Briefing (04/03).

Rangers, the supporters, and Oscar Cortes himself will be bitterly disappointed by the news.

Is Oscar Cortes in for a three-month injury?
Stevie Clifford spoke following Rangers’ sad 2-1 weekend defeat to Motherwell,

in which the former Ibrox media partner believes the club’s poor injury record has now caught up with them.

Rangers are missing a number of crucial players from the middle to the front,

and Cortes’ absence might go up to 12 weeks.

“You get that blow with the (Oscar) Cortes news just before (the game with Motherwell),” Clifford remarked.

“I believe we are the only football club in the world right now that can have a player walk off holding his hamstring, signalling that he is fine,

only to find out that he could be out for three months.”

“I think our run of luck with injuries just finally caught up with us because there wasn’t a spark on Saturday.”

Rangers winger blow sums up Ibrox’s luck.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement had previously declined to provide a timescale for the injury,

which he described as “severe” prior to the Kilmarnock match.

The prognosis is definitely not good, as he suggests that he will inform supporters in greater detail after consulting with a specialist and his parent club, RC Lens.

Given Oscar Cortes’ young age, we’re certain he’ll recover from his injury,

but it’s a significant setback for this season’s goals and ambitions.

The Colombian appeared to be a direct, gifted option off the flank,

and he was settling in nicely alongside fellow January acquisitions Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande.

Signed on a loan-to-buy basis from French Ligue 1 club RC Lens,

who paid a reported £3.8 million to recruit the kid from FC Millonarios in the summer,

the Oscar Cortes injury calls any future contract for the forward into question.

The timetables involved, which would take the winger until late May,

also mean that if the option is not exercised or another loan agreement is not reached,

the Colombian could have already played his final game for Rangers.

Oscar Cortes has made seven Rangers appearances, scoring once and providing two assists.
