Clement drops Rangers return hint, 15-goal forward could be key to success

Abdallah Sima has been a Rangers player who has been missed more than any other in the past few months.

The Senegal international missed out on helping his adopted club team propel a comeback to the top of the table under Gers manager Philippe Clement after having visions of winning the African Cup of Nations.

Even though Abdallah Sima is only temporarily at Ibrox, the Rangers manager has disclosed that he has committed to the team and when we might expect to see him play again.

When will Abdallah Sima be back on the Rangers field?

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what we could have done with the 22-year-old in the squad for the weekend—he has 15 goals in 32 games, all of which came from open play.

Not so much that he can carry the ball as well as someone like Oscar Cortes, whose own injury is a setback, as it is that he has a remarkable ability to find himself in excellent scoring positions.

You have the match winner sitting in the stands if you combine that with a low-quality chance-making ability to find the back of the net.

Speaking at an SEC event alongside current team captain Jack Butland and Rangers great Graeme Souness, Clement provided an illustration of the team’s current cohesion:

“Abdallah Sima visited my office this morning. He asked, “Gaffer, can I come with the team to Lisbon? I’m working on my rehab and will be out for a few weeks.”

While Sima’s return to more realistic and sport-specific training on the grass this week is encouraging for his recuperation, another four weeks of hard work could see him playing in the Old Firm derby on April 7.

With so many of our main attackers absent against Motherwell, we witnessed how ineffective our attack was, and Clement will be looking to replace as many of them as possible.

Everyone will benefit from Abdallah Sima’s return to the Rangers lineup at this point in the season. Perhaps he should stay in Glasgow instead of attempting to smuggle in a free trip to Portugal!
