Deal close: Celtic star who signed new contract this season now on verge of leaving

Journalist Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports claims that a “ambitious” Celtic player who merely got a new

deal this season is about to leave the team.

Celtic transfer news

With new players anticipated to help them rebuild after a somewhat turbulent period under Brendan Rodgers, as well as the

possibility of current players leaving when their contracts expire, the Hoops could have another exciting summer ahead of them.

Scott Bain is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to extend his stay, while the long-term future of loan star Adam

Idah is still very much up in the air and Joe Hart will retire.

Idah, 23, has made six appearances since joining the team during the January transfer window, and it is thought that Celtic is eager to

turn his temporary deal into a permanent one this summer.

In the summer, the Hoops have also been linked to a stunning move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been

playing brilliantly lately as he deftly replaces the injured Alisson. In the upcoming months, he might try to finalize a transfer

elsewhere, as he undoubtedly feels that he needs to start every game at this stage of his career, something he won’t be able to do at

Anfield when there is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world ahead of him.

Trabzonspor stopper Ugurcan Cakir has also emerged as an alternative to Kelleher, should the Liverpool man move elsewhere, and the

27-year-old has started 26 Turkish Super Lig games this season, as well as starting three times for Turkey in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Celtic star on the verge of quick exit

During Ange Postecoglou’s tenure as manager, Abada was referred to as a “ambitious player” for his remarkable contributions to

Celtic, including two Scottish Premiership titles and 29 goals and 22 assists in 112 appearances.

Even though the 22-year-old merely inked a new contract with the Hoops in September, it does seem like the proper time for him to move on at this point given that he hasn’t seen any playing time this season due to unfavorable circumstances beyond his control.
