Ibrox Exclusive: Kieran Maguire reveals £10m Celtic advantage over Rangers after fan outrage

This season, Celtic is “underperforming” despite having a £10 million advantage over their bitter rivals Rangers

in terms of squad cost overall.

According to financial expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke with Football Insider exclusively,

Celtic spend more on payroll than its Glasgow rivals.

Rangers now lead the league by two points, meaning Brendan Rodgers’ team has fallen behind its competitors.

Celtic supporters are upset with club chairman Peter Lawwell on social media over remarks he made during the most recent annual

general meeting regarding a lack of transfer activity. Some have even dubbed Lawwell a “blatant liar.”

With £67 million in the bank, Celtic reported a £40 million profit in their 2022–2023 accounts. However, Lawwell maintained that

transfer targets were not available during the January transfer window.

Maguire maintained that Celtic has a significant advantage over other Scottish teams,

thus their current problems are not financial in nature.

Celtic are “underperforming” as £10m advantage over Rangers revealed

“If Celtic is trailing Rangers at the table, there is a case to be made for them to make more investments,”

Maguire said to Sean Fisher of Football Insider.

“They have always been extremely frugal with their operations; in the 2022–2023 season, they accounted for more than half of all squad costs in the Scottish Premiership.”

Now if they can’t win the league when they have that financial advantage and they’re generating more money than their rivals

then I think things are not necessarily wrong from a financial point of view.

Either Celtic are underperforming or Rangers are over-performing in order for that to be the case.

Celtic should have an advantage over the Rangers because they are financially stronger than them and their pay cost is 20 percent more than Rangers’.

They also spent £10 million more on their team than Rangers, which is a significant sum of money in the Scottish market.

In other news, following a “massive” development, Celtics fans are demanding board action.
