Confirmed Deal:Brendan Rodgers phone call convinced 27-goal striker to dump Rangers and join Hoops on free transfer
According to reports, Celtic and Rangers are fighting both on and off the field. The Premiership’s Glaswegian clubs are separated by only two points, but summer preparations are well started.
Ahead of another important weekend of Scottish football, GlasgowWorld has covered the most recent transfer rumors involving both clubs. Here’s your daily roundup for Saturday, March 2.
Rangers seek another free transfer.
Rangers are tracking Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare for a possible free move, according to sources. The player is already able to communicate with non-English clubs, and Celtic has expressed interest.
In recent years, the Gers have benefited from signing undesired players from English clubs. Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, and Tom Lawrence have all contributed to the Teddy Bear’s successful transfer strategy.
O’Hare has six goals and three assists from midfield in the Championship this season. He is a graduate of the Aston Villa academy.
Celtic learns Idah price.
Former Sheffield Wednesday, Carlton Palmer, a Leeds United and England midfielder, believes Norwich City would demand £10 million for Celtic loanee Adam Idah. The 23-year-old has made an immediate impact since joining Parkhead last month.
Five Premiership goals in as many games has put the Hoops two points behind Rangers and still in contention for the title. However, his exploits in front of goal may be working against Celtic, with Norwich potentially raising his asking price.
Palmer advised Celtic that Idah’s worth was going to soar as a result of his success. “Norwich City are holding out for a big fee for Adam Idah, who’s gone on loan to Celtic,” Palmer told Football Insider. “He’s loving life at Celtic, but Norwich want a high amount, and he’s under contract until the summer of 2028.
“The Irish international has scored five goals in his first six games in Scotland, which is a very promising start. The exact sum is unknown, although it will be higher than the initial £3 million estimate.
“It’s unusual that Celtic didn’t agree to a pay for him before he went up the road. If they want to make the deal permanent. For a player of his age and as an international, the fee could be around £10million, which would be seen as a reasonable fee for a player of his experience and stature.”
