Chris Sutton, a Rangers player, reacts instantly to the team’s loss against Motherwell at Ibrox.
Chris Sutton responded right away after Rangers lost to Motherwell 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership, which was disappointing.
Despite an outstanding penalty from James Tavernier in the second half, Stuart Kettlewell’s team defeated Philippe Clement’s team on Saturday, March 2, allowing them to maintain their lead atop the Premiership standings.
After losing to the Light Blues, Brendan Rodgers‘ Celtic team now has a chance to get back to the top of the league when they play Hearts on Sunday, March 3. Three points would lift them one point clear of Rangers.
Following the full-time whistle on March 2, Sutton took to X and shared an eye emoji without adding a photo or a message.
Can Rangers surpass Celtic to win the Premiership?
Rangers had a great chance to prove to Celtic that they were serious about winning the Premiership this season when they faced them on Saturday at Ibrox, but for some reason, Clement’s team never really seemed like they were on the upswing.
While the typically outstanding Tavernier and John Lundstram struggled to actually generate any serious chances, Cyriel Dessers was off the pace from the start and John Souttar got himself into a total tangle for the first goal.
Although it was far from a flawless performance—the Gers’ victory against Kilmarnock the previous day may have given some indications of this kind of play—Clement’s team will not take home any more trophies this season if they play like that.
Hopefully, the Light Blues’ performance on Saturday was an anomaly, and they will soon recover. Nevertheless, some anxious spectators will be there when the Hoops play Hearts tomorrow, hoping that the Edinburgh squad may pull off a major favor for Clement’s team.
