REAL DEAL: A Star calls former teammate great addition for Celtics
The former teammates showed mutual respect for one another when they spotted one other on the TD Garden floor on Friday. Only a
few days ago, Doncic, who turned 25, became one of the top players in the league and now leads the Mavericks. With the Celtics,
Porzingis is flourishing and showing off his special talent on the top club in the NBA.
Between 2019 and 22, Doncic and Porzingis played together for several seasons in Dallas. The cooperation wasn’t entirely successful
because, at the 2022 trade deadline, Porzingis was transferred to Washington. The gifted players were never able to click completely
because Porzingis, like he has had injury issues his entire career, was never completely healthy.
Doncic remarked, “He was just popping and shooting that thing.” “He’s been a fantastic asset to them. I had a brief conversation with
him. I’m glad for him because he seems to be having a great time being here.
Doncic finished with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists for a triple-double, which is about average for him. In the third quarter, the
Mavs did led by two points, but the Celtics rallied to take a commanding lead. After a rocky start, Jayson Tatum had a fantastic night
of his own, finishing with 32 points and eight rebounds.
Tatum is “just a great guy,” Doncic remarked of him. It’s wonderful that we both respect each other so much. That’s all there was to
our outing.
Doncic calls the Boston Celtics the best team in the NBA, showing that he has a great deal of respect for them. Despite their recent
improvement, the Mavs remain sixth in the Western Conference with a 34-26 record. They will therefore try to recover from their
defeat to a C’s club that has won ten straight games.
