Update: $5 million worth player explains why he is flourishing at Rangers.

The Nigeria international’s first few months at Ibrox Stadium were fraught with controversy, with supporters repeatedly booing him for poor performances.

However, the 29-year-old’s fortunes have changed in recent months, particularly under Clement, with 17 goals in 24 games.

His improved form has also earned him a fan favorite, as he has certainly been one of the Light Blues’ greatest players in recent weeks.

The Belgium-born forward has disclosed the reason for his change in fortune under the Belgian tactician, claiming that they have a personal connection because they both speak the same language.

According to the Daily Record, he stated, “I know the manager from Belgium; I played against him a couple of times when he was the manager at Club Brugge.”

“When I was at Genk, we competed for the crown but came in second place. In Belgium, it was evident that he was an excellent manager, having won three titles in a row.

“He understands what is required at this stage of the season, and maybe he can do it again. Obviously, it’s a little easier because we can have personal conversations in Dutch.

“That makes things a little easier for both of us.” But there’s nothing remarkable about it; it’s not as if I’m his favourite because I was born in Belgium. “That is not the case!”

Rangers won the Scottish League Cup for the first time since 2011 and are presently leading the Scottish Premiership with 70 points, two points ahead of defending champions and second-placed Celtic.
