Rangers eye English ace on free transfer ahead of Celtic as scouts descend tonight – report

Callum O’Hare, a midfielder for Coventry City, has a contract that expires in the summer,

and Tom Collomosse reports that Rangers are “monitoring” him.

The 25-year-old, who is already free to negotiate a contract with a team outside of England, is being considered by both the Light Blues

and Old Firm rivals Celtic, according to a Daily Mail journalist who tweeted about this on March 1.

Sides from Spain are also interested as a trio are set to send scouts to watch him in action

against West Brom on Friday night (1 March).

Collomosse wrote: “Believe up to three La Liga clubs will watch Callum O’Hare play for Coventry at West Brom on Friday.

“O’Hare out of contract this summer and free to agree terms with clubs outside England. Rangers/Celtic also monitoring.”

Rangers set to battle Celtic for free transfer signing?

O’Hare would undoubtedly be an example of the low-cost acquisitions that have defined the previous transfer windows at Ibrox, where

players with expiring contracts or those without contracts are crucial.

English teams have sent players like Tom Lawrence, Dujon Sterling, and Jack Butland to Glasgow on a free transfer, and they have all

made significant contributions—at least while healthy.

Todd Cantwell heads the list of low-fee signings who were already set to leave within months, although the struggles of Nico Raskin

and Jose Cifuentes this term have made that more of a mixed bag.

Englishman O’Hare has nine goals and four assists in all competitions this season, which suggests he might be a thrilling addition to

Philippe Clement’s team. However, with Celtic in the mix, there may be a chance that,

like with other possible targets, he lines up in opposition.

Depending on who the Spanish sides in attendance at The Hawthorns might be it could be a difficult race to win either way, but if

Rangers are interested it looks like they will need to be in talks as a matter of urgency to avoid getting left behind.

Even with Cantwell out due to injury, attacking midfield is arguably not a key necessity for the thriving Gers side right now, but adding

from a position of strength can’t be ruled out because the management won’t want to take anything for granted.

In other Rangers news, if the Light Blues sign another gifted ace this summer,

he has been instructed to seek an early departure from Ibrox.
