Rangers are “monitoring” Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare as his contract expires in the summer, according to Tom Collomosse.

On March 1, a Daily Mail journalist tweeted that the Light Blues and Old Firm rivals Celtic are both interested in the 25-year-old,

who is already available to negotiate a deal with clubs outside of England.

Spain is also intrigued, with three teams sending scouts to watch him play against West Brom on Friday night (1 March).

Collomosse wrote: “I believe up to three La Liga clubs will watch Callum O’Hare play for Coventry against West Brom on Friday.”

“O’Hare is out of contract this summer and free to negotiate terms with clubs outside England. Rangers/Celtic are also watching.”

Rangers set to compete with Celtic for free transfer signings?

O’Hare would undoubtedly represent the type of low-cost signing that has defined recent Ibrox transfer windows,

with players who are out of contract or about to expire proving crucial.

Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, and Tom Lawrence have all joined Glasgow from English clubs on free transfers and have made significant contributions, at least when fit.

Todd Cantwell leads the list of low-cost acquisitions who were previously expected to go within months,

however Nico Raskin and Jose Cifuentes’ troubles this season have made that a mixed bag.

Englishman O’Hare’s nine goals and four assists in all competitions this season suggest he might be an exciting addition to Philippe Clement’s side,

yet with Celtic in the mix, there is a chance he will line up in opposition, as is often the case with possible targets.

Depending on who the Spanish sides in attendance at The Hawthorns are, it might be a difficult race to win in any direction,

but if Rangers are keen, they will need to start discussions as soon as possible to prevent falling behind.

Attacking midfield is arguably not a significant necessity in a blossoming Gers side today,

even with Cantwell out injured, but the manager will not want to take anything for granted granted so adding from a position of strength can’t be ruled out.
