‘Can’t understand it’ – David Edgar baffled by Rangers transfer decision today
With just hours left before the transfer window closes tonight, David Edgar is perplexed as to why the
Rangers have not yet revealed the acquisition of Oscar Cortes for January.
According to Andy Newport, there was a report that the Lens winger will be signed by the Gers on Deadline Day.
That hasn’t happened yet, though, so it makes sense that some fans are beginning to have concerns.
Despite making only four Ligue 1 appearances for Lens this season, the Colombian winger scored during a 25-minute cameo
against Reims and provided assistance during a 4-0 thumping of Nantes.
The Hearts and Hand podcast founder took to X on Thursday (1 February) to respond to a fan’s question of why Cortes’
announcement was being left so late, replying: “Can’t understand it, no.
Just be patient
There are no obvious reasons why Cortes’ move to Ibrox would collapse at the last minute, and it would be a huge blow if
something like that were to potentially happen, mainly due to Philippe Clement’s lack of reinforcements.
The winger has demonstrated his ability in just 40 minutes of football, despite playing little time in France,
contributing to two goals as a substitute.
At the age of 20, he even earned his first cap for his country after making an impression while playing for Millonarios in
Colombia.
With all of the Rangers’ injuries, particularly in the offensive department, Clement’s current team could need a few
reinforcements.
Given that Danilo, Kemar Roofe, and Abdallah Sima are all out due to injuries, Cortes seems like an intriguing option.
Rangers had been trying to sign him throughout the most of the window, and it appeared that an announcement about the
transaction would soon come. There should be a good reason why no one has heard anything yet, but the scent growing cold
at Ibrox will cast suspicion on the impending move.
