Ian Poveda may be allowed to leave Leeds United before tonight’s 11 p.m. deadline,

but Manuel Benson is unlikely to come in to take his place.

Leeds still has work to do before tonight’s deadline of 11 p.m.,

with incomings being the most crucial item on the schedule.

Exits, however, shouldn’t be completely discounted either,

since the team can decide to approve a fringe player’s departure before the evening is up.

According to Adam Pope, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City,

two of Leeds’ league rivals, are reportedly interested in Ian Poveda on a permanent basis.

With six months remaining on his deal, Leeds would be happy to allow the winger to leave permanently,

and the two teams are expected to compete for his services.

Naturally, Poveda was a player for Blues manager Tony Mowbray during the 21–22 campaign when he managed Blackburn Rovers.

If Leeds were to let the Colombian international to depart, it would raise the issue of finding a successor,

which Graham Smyth says is unlikely at this time.

When questioned about the prospect on social media, he replied as follows:

Even though Poveda hasn’t had nearly the impact that many had anticipated from him this season,

it would be a little immature to allow him to depart without a replacement.

Since that his contract expires in the summer, it makes sense to secure a permanent deal for him; nonetheless,

we should replace him in the lineup to provide us with better coverage.

When he departs, we won’t have any left-footed wingers,

which is quite concerning given the lack of balance we’ve already shown in games this season.
