Aston Villa Weighing Up Summer Move For This Stoke City Sensation

Despite missing out on the Champions League spot following a controversial final matchday

defeat against Manchester United, Aston Villa continue their hunt for first-team names as well

as emerging young talents. In one of his recent posts on X, The Telegraph’s John Percy has

revealed the Villans’ interest in Stoke City teenager Sol Sidibe ahead of a potential summer move.

Before making his senior debut in August 2023, the 18-year-old England youth international

advanced through the Potters’ academy systems. Despite making eight appearances during the

2023–24 season, he made 13 appearances across all competitions during the previous campaign, indicating a rise in his level of engagement.
But Sidibe hasn’t been engaged since January because he was diagnosed with a lower back pars

fracture. To prevent more setbacks, his minutes must be carefully monitored. Villa, who have been sanctioned by UEFA for breaking financial regulations, might sign him now for a discounted price instead of shelling out a huge sum in a few years when the young player solidifies his place in the

first team.

Why Aston Villa Could Benefit From The Deal In The Long Run

After finishing in 18th place in the league, Stoke City’s Championship campaign was disappointing.

Mark Robins’ team almost avoided relegation by two points, but the drop might cost them Sidibe

and other chances. Unless he signs a new contract to extend his stay past the present term, the

Potters would prefer to accept an offer this summer rather than lose him for nothing. His contract

with Staffordshire expires in June 2027.

Given Stoke’s demise, this appears improbable, and as a result, Aston Villa has seen the young

midfield sensation as an opportunistic acquisition. Sidibe is a good match for the “number six”

position because to his toughness and game-reading skills, as well as his demonstrated technical

abilities as a box-to-box alternative.
