Derby County Chase Heats Up as Reporter Hints at Major Scramble for In-Demand Star
Derby County target Kamil Conteh is expected to attract ‘significant interest’, according to BristolLive reporter Dan Hargraves on X.
Derby County have been linked with a move for the
player along with Plymouth Argyle this summer in a report by Football League World.
DCFC are preparing for another year in the Championship.
Conteh, 22, joined Bristol Rovers back in January 2024 and has since become a key player.
The Gas will be playing their football in League Two next season following their recent disappointing relegation from League One.
In this latest update regarding the midfielder’s future at the Memorial Ground,
reporter Hargraves has claimed on X that he is poised to be a man in-demand. However, the Pirates haven’t received a bid for him just yet but they are set to face a battle to retain his services.
After signing for Bristol Rovers 18 months ago,
he told their official club website at the time: “I’m delighted to be here, and am looking forward to cracking on and getting playing. In terms of the size of the club, where they are in the table, and the manager’s plans for me, I just really wanted to be a part of it.”
It would be a surprise if they managed to keep hold of him in the fourth tier though.
The Pirates have sacked head coach Inigo Calderon after they went down and they have brought back former Walsall, Cheltenham Town and Barnsley manager Darrell Clarke.
What now for Derby County target Kamil Conteh?
Derby County have the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months. DCFC may need to see off competition from Plymouth Argyle if they were to get Conteh.
The Sierre Leone international, who has nine caps under his belt, was on the books at Crystal Palace, Watford and Middlesbrough as a youngster. He was loaned out by the latter to Gateshead in non-league to get some experience under his belt.
