Morning Transfer: Eintracht Frankfurt Stun Europe by Signing Kevin De Bruyne on Free Deal
In one of the most surprising moves of the transfer window, Eintracht Frankfurt have pulled off a stunning coup by signing Belgian midfield maestro Kelvin De Bruine on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old, long considered one of Europe’s most underrated creative talents, was snapped up by Frankfurt after weeks of speculation linking him with clubs across England, Italy, and Spain. His arrival on a free has left many fans and pundits in disbelief.
“Frankfurt have just hijacked the market,” one Bundesliga insider said. “Getting a player of De Bruine’s vision and intelligence for nothing is unheard of at this level.”
The former Genk star is expected to slot directly into Frankfurt’s starting XI, where his playmaking ability and dead-ball precision could be the missing piece in the club’s push for Champions League qualification.
“This isn’t just a transfer—it’s a statement,” said sporting director Markus Krösche.
De Bruine is set to be unveiled in Frankfurt colors later this week, and the Bundesliga is officially on notice.
