What the Nottingham Forest players are saying about Morgan-Gibbs White’s future behind the scenes
Nottingham Forest are keen to ensure that the Europa League is secured as a bare minimum when they face Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
The Reds face the Blues knowing that a win would guarantee Europa League football and could end in the club sneaking into the Champions League places in a best-case scenario.
Forest beat West Ham to set up that permutation for the final day, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenkovic the players on the scoresheet.
Gibbs-White is a man with his future up in the air and there is a very serious possibility that Sunday will be the final time that Forest witness the number 10 in action for the club.
Gibbs-White is wanted by Manchester City and Pep Guardiola has made it clear in the past that he’s a huge fan of the Forest player, enjoying a moment with him after a recent FA Cup semi-final between the two clubs.
What the Nottingham Forest players are saying about Morgan Gibbs-White
The Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse has been answering the questions of the Forest fan base for a recent article and regarding Gibbs-White, it’s not good news.
He’s claimed that the Forest squad behind the scenes are now expecting Gibbs-White to leave the club this summer, with Manchester City set to be successful in their quest to land the number 10.
It’s believed Forest expect to receive around £70 million for the player and a first bid will likely come shortly after the final game of the campaign.
Gibbs-White has been in fine form again this season and he’s grown as a player during his three years at the club after signing from Wolves in the summer of 2022.
Forest must ask for James McAtee in Gibbs-White negotiations
Losing a main part of the team will be a blow for Forest, with Gibbs-White captaining the team more often than not this season.
As a result, it’s imperative that the number 10 position is addressed as a matter of urgency should he leave and that leads Forest to McAtee.
City are going to let their young performer leave this summer, with McAtee cruelly left out of the matchday squad for the FA Cup final recently.
With that in mind, Forest have a duty to sign a player who not only would be a useful addition to the squad but, in the way he plays, could be a perfect replacement for Gibbs-White.
