Premier League give ruling on Joao Pedro’s first red card for ‘violent conduct’ against Brentford
The Premier League Match Centre had their say as Joao Pedro was given marching orders following an incident against Brentford.
During Brighton’s away day to Brentford in a Premier League, Joao Pedro ‘striked’ Nathan Collins in the 61st minute.
The Brazilian international was given a straight red, but there was a VAR check afterwards.
After a short delay, the Video Assistant Referee James Bell deemed it to be ‘violent conduct’, thus keeping the red card decision.
On X, the Premier League Match Centre released a statement following the incident.
It read: “The referee’s call of red card to João Pedro was checked and confirmed by VAR, with the actions deemed as violent conduct.”
