Is Jamie Vardy Ready for One More Year at Leicester City? – Vardy answers
Jamie Vardy is out of contract in the summer. He has not played at his best level this season. He has the captain’s armband and is trusted as the talisman he is. Ruud van Nistelrooy has put real faith in JV9 and understands his importance.
Jamie Vardy himself has allready hinted he will play on and has no plans of retirement. The fact that aging players still can produce and impact shows around the game. Ronaldo, Modric, Lallana and Milner are four other players who contributes, all close to 40.
Before Jamie Vardy decided on a year extension at Leicester there were talks of different options for the prolific goalscorer. JV9 decided to stay with Leicester and return to Premier League.
There are talks about Wrexham, but that will never happen. The Red Dragons will never do such a move. They have an approach in the transfer market that makes them evolve in a strict and certain pattern. JV9 will not sign for a club just to be part of a fairy story. You will need to bring a lot of money to the table to get him in.
Jamie Vardy is also a family man with children in different ages. The group is well established and grounded in Leicestershire. Moving far away from his current home looks more or less out of question. A much more realistic move would be to join Birmingham. It is a club with an aim to get back to Premier League.
Despite having a difficult season at Leicester and being in a team most certainly relegated, he has scored seven goals. We certainly believe he will be at double numbers by the end of this season. This season, Leicester has lacked power in midfield. There is also insufficient support from the flanks to aid Jamie Vardy. They lack the passes and movement needed to get him on higher numbers. Watching Leicester in games this season also reveal a great number chances created being wasted by Vardy.
We have seen clubs in Premier League linked. Man Utd were at some point strangely said to have had an interest. However, it will be no realism at this point to see him move to Old Trafford. A move abroad also looks unlikely, with his family situation.
We believe the most realistic happening is that he will agree to a new one year extension at Leicester. He will stay on as the main man up front. He will again captain the team in a fight for a Premier League return. This would then be his third promotion to Premier League action. If he, for some reason, cannot agree to a move to Leicester, we believe Birmingham will act. He would then sign for a manager he knows very well, former Leicester coach Chris Jones.
