International forward Eduard Spertsyan with 11 g/a this season makes career decision on joining Nottingham Forest

There will come a time when Forest start to look towards the transfer market in preparation for the 2025/25 campaign and European football might be on the horizon.

Two defeats on the trot have made Champions League qualification look tricky, but a place in either the Europa League or the Conference League does feel like a possibility.

Several players are starting to be linked with Forest in the summer and it does feel as though Nuno Espirito Santo will be welcoming several new additions to the ranks.

Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Forest, however, it feels like too much of a long shot and the Reds will likely prioritise quality over quantity with a smidgen of marquee signings thrown in.

Forest won’t be successful in every piece of business they do and it would appear that Forest have suffered setbacks already ahead of the summer.

Eduard Spertsyan rejects Nottingham Forest transfer

The Krasnodar talisman was on the shortlist of targets as Forest bid to bolster their squad, but it’s been claimed that he’s decided against leaving the club.

According to reports, the talisman looks set to move on in the summer with the Armenian international attracting interest from across Europe.

It’s claimed, however, that Spertsyan cited ‘certain reasons’ why he didn’t want to join Forest and for now, he will stay put with his current club.

Spertsyan has scored seven goals and registered four assists in 29 appearances, typically operating in a number 10 role when he plays for club or country.

Forest need more firepower next season

Chris Wood has signed a new two-year deal with Forest and it doesn’t bear thinking about where the team would be without his 18 Premier League goals this season.

However, he’s not getting any younger and with that in mind, it would be nice to see the Reds add a few more options for the final third of the pitch.

Spertsyan looks like an attractive option for the final third and he might be capable of providing some energy in attack, given that he’s only 24.

For whatever reason, however, it looks as though Forest have missed out on this one, with the Armenian player choosing to look for other options in the summer.

Attackers do feel like the order of the day at the City Ground for the summer and it will be fascinating to see who the club does end up with before next season.
