Clement says Rangers can’t stop a’very elite’ player’s move, with big European clubs fighting for his signature

Philippe Clement believes Mohamed Diomande has the ability to reach the peak of European football,

hinting that the January signing’s time at Ibrox might pave the way for a move to a higher-level club.

Of all, no football fan wants to think of their favorite team as a “selling club.”

But it is simply the harsh reality of the present game, in which leagues such as the Dutch Eredivisie,

the Belgian Jupiler League, and the Scottish Premiership are routinely ripped apart by more affluent clubs from higher divisions.

Philippe Clement, a former Genk and Club Brugge player, understands what it means to play for Rangers.

And the straight-talking head coach admits that if Mohamed Diomande builds on his impressive start in Glasgow,

Rangers may soon be afforded the opportunity to profit handsomely from their £4.5 million investment.

Philippe Clement is thrilled by Rangers newcomer Diomande.

“Certainly (he can improve more).””Not only in the coming weeks, but in the coming months and years,”

Clement said of the former Nordsjaelland player.

“He’s a high-potential player, and I don’t think the Rangers will be his final destination.

“Obviously, you’ll need some luck with injuries throughout your career.

If he avoids it, he will be able to make more meaningful progress.

He has both talent and the mentality needed to work for the team, which needs concentration and focus.

“Those are the things you are looking for when you go into talks with players.”

Diomande has already scored two goals in four league games, including a long-range shot in Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Hearts.

In a remarkable first few weeks in Scotland, he has demonstrated all of the traits that made him memorable in Denmark,

including composure, power, and press resistance.

When questioned if Diomande could reach the “very top,” Clement was keen to point out that he saw no reason why not.
There have already been two goals in four games.

“You may notice something they can do on the field or are doing that you believe you can improve as a manager.

But the most important aspect is how determined people are to develop themselves and how eager they are to acquire information and work around it,” Clement adds.

“(Diomande) is someone who is extremely focused on these topics.

“It’s like a sponge. He’ll improve as he learns more. And with experience, he will improve.”

Diomande was occasionally admonished at Norsjaelland for his lack of ambition.

He failed to score  in 21 appearances before joining Rangers in January.

Clement, 22, appears to have added a new string to his bow after already having two.

Oscar Cortes, another January signing, also scored in the Hearts defeat.
