Derby County injury latest v Portsmouth as one more blow confirmed

Derby County face another significant battle in their quest for Championship survival this weekend as they face Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

After holding promotion-chasing Burnley to a draw on Tuesday night, John Eustace’s side make the journey south in the hope of securing a result that will keep them out of the relegation zone.

Derby are currently out of the bottom three on goal difference and are level on points with third-bottom Cardiff City heading into the final five games of the campaign.

Eustace does have a considerable injury list to contend with heading into the game with Ryan Nyambe the latest blow to be confirmed with the right-back set to miss the remainder of the season.

Nymabe suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Preston and will be absent for the rest of the campaign. Here DerbyshireLive takes a look at the latest regarding the injuries.

Callum Elder

The Australian suffered a knock in the win over Preston and did not feature in the defeat at Swansea or the draw with Burnley last night. Faces a battle to be fit for Pompey.

Ryan Nyambe

The defender suffered a hamstring injury in the victory over Preston and unfortunately he will now miss the remainder of the campaign.

Eustace said: “Ryan is going to be out for the season, unfortunately. He’s possibly going to have surgery, but he’s going to be out for the next three or four months.”

Lars-Jorgen Salvesen

The Norwegian is out for the season after damaging his knee after falling in training. Has since undergone surgery to clear up his cartilage. The problem is an issue with his meniscus rather than his ACL as some had speculated.

Kemar Roofe

The striker pulled up in training with a hamstring injury last month and has not played since coming off the bench in the defeat to Middlesbrough.

Ben Osborn

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder is out with a hamstring injury.

Sondre Langas

The centre-back is playing through the pain barrier with Eustace admitting the Norwegian centre-back needs an op.

David Ozoh

The influential on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder was carried off on a stretcher in the defeat to Millwall back in February. Is out for the remainder of the season.

Corey Blackett-Taylor

The winger damaged his hamstring in the defeat to Cardiff earlier this year. He is now out for a lengthy period.

Dajaune Brown

The striker added to the Rams’ list of injury woes by damaging his hamstring after coming on as a second-half substitute against Sunderland. He was sent for a scan and subsequently required surgery on the muscle. He is likely to be out for the rest of the season.

Curtis Nelson

The centre-back is out for the season after damaging his ACL in what is a huge blow for Derby given he was one of their most reliable performers.
