Aston Villa issue response as Marcus Rashford informed he must make Man Utd return

few months since joining Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United and it appears that there are differing opinions on his future

Aston Villa have told Marcus Rashford that they can continue making him ‘better’. The England forward joined Unai Emery’s side on loan in January after being axed by Ruben Amorim, and his long-term Manchester United future remains in question.

He has enjoyed a productive start with Villa having provided four assists in nine appearances. It’s understood the Midlands side are keen to keep Rashford on an extended basis. An option to make the deal permanent is present in the deal, believed to be in the region of £40million.

Sporting director Monchi has now made a public appeal to Rashford as he attempts to come to a decision on his future. Speaking to Radio Marca, he said: “Unai is a coach who has historically helped players grow.

“Coming here makes players better, and that’s our main selling point, beyond offering a project that’s fighting for the top eight in the Champions League, that wants to continue growing, and that wants to keep playing in Europe.”

One former Red Devils star however believes he should remain with his boyhood club. Speaking to The Express, Bryan Robson said : “Marcus has unbelievable talent and should be doing better for Manchester United. He shouldn’t even be moving on to Aston Villa.

“He should be giving his best for Man United. [Whether he comes back] is the manager’s and Marcus’s decision. But for me, he’s got the talent, and you’ve got to get the best out of him.

“And Marcus has got to get the best out of himself, and he should be a Man United player next year.”

United boss Amorim has also given his view on Rashford’s future, explaining why he had to leave. He said: “I couldn’t get Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it.

“Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different. I wish the best to Rashford and to [Villa manager] Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”

Rashford will likely be back on the pitch for Villa this weekend as they resume action after the international break. They take on Championship side Preston North End in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs for the victor.
