
Derby County favorite breaks silence on banishment following Wayne Rooney’s ‘piece of history’ assertion.
Tom Lawrence, a former Derby County player, is hoping to make an impression at the World
Cup after believing his Wales career was ended after a disagreement with previous boss Rob Page.
Lawrence, a Rangers forward, has not featured for Wales since a friendly win over Mexico in March 2021,
and his old Rams boss Wayne Rooney believed Page overlooked him due to a “bit of history” between the two.
However, the 31-year-old has been reinstated by Page’s successor, Craig Bellamy,
as Wales resume their World Cup qualifying campaign against Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.

When asked about his absence under Page, who was fired in June,
and whether his Wales prospects were dwindling, the 23-cap Lawrence replied,
“Yeah, I mean it all depends who is in charge.”
