Arsenal submit formal offer to sign Everton who is like Casemiro
Everton are looking for as much as £80million to sell Amadou Onana amid widespread interest this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
On February 27, the newspaper said on their website that the Toffees seek an even bigger gain than the €60 million [£51.3 million] reported in Europe as Barcelona chases the Belgian midfielder.
According to TEAMtalk, every member of the Premier League’s so-called Big Six has expressed an interest in the 22-year-old,
making it “likely” that an agreement would be struck with one suitor by the conclusion of the season, with Chelsea’s interest “concrete”.
A sale for £80 million would offer Everton a “decent” profit on Onana after his £33.5 million price from Lille in 2022 [Sky Sports],
even accounting for a 20% sell-on clause agreed with the French club at the time.
Everton to sign Amadou Onana for a large fee while Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City pursue him?
With so many big-spenders sniffing about,
it appears probable that the Toffees will receive the offer they require; whether they will is another story.
Barcelona appears to be battling to win the race either way, given their willingness to provide such a low fee,
unless they make a really significant cash-plus-players deal.
Sean Dyche is unlikely to want Onana to leave,
and there is no assurance that a deal will be struck because he has already been through many transfer windows where it was expected he would leave,
and he is still at Goodison Park. However, with so many moving factors,
including the continuing 777 Partners acquisition bid and the potential of compensation claims from rivals,
Everton may need to sell before buying.
Therefore, if the midfield player is offered the lion’s share of £100 million,
he might be viewed as a reasonable sacrifice. However, before making a decision,
it will be necessary to evaluate the futures of Idrissa Gana Gueye, 34, whose contract is expiring,
and James Garner, 22, who is also rumored to be a Spurs target [TEAMtalk, 18 February].
Kieran Maguire thinks Everton now has a “very good case” against another points deduction, in other Everton news.
