Exclusive: What Nottm Forest are now planning to do with Morgan Gibbs-White as Premier League rivals circle

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Nottingham Forest are planning to do with Morgan Gibbs-White amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

It has been reported that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs keen on Gibbs-White.

The England international has been in great form this season, contributing a total of five goals and six assists from midfield in 24 Premier League games.

Gibbs-White’s efforts in helping Forest challenge for a Champions League place has led to interest from the Premier League’s top clubs, but the Reds have other plans.

Nottingham Forest ready to open Morgan Gibbs-White contract talks as hands-off warning issued

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Forest insist they have no intention of letting Gibbs-White leave.

The Reds believe that, if they achieve top-five in the Premier League this season – a Champions League place, with England leading the race for an extra spot – then he will stay.

Forest are prepared to talk terms on a new deal which they hope they will do in the summer, along with Nuno Espirito Santo’s contract.

Gibbs-White has admirers in the Premier League but the one team who were strongest in terms of interest is actually Newcastle United.

Should Gibbs-White want to move, we are told his value would be over £70million – Forest rate him that highly, but they are insistent they are not considering a sale at this point.

So it seems his future could depend on where they finish, although if he is getting into the England squad with Forest going into a World Cup year, they think that will help massively too.

What footballing icons have been saying about Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White has gone from strength to strength at Forest since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal reportedly worth £44.5million back in 2022.

Plenty of footballing figures, including Man City boss Pep Guardiola, have spoken highly of Gibbs-White in recent months.

“Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga are exceptional players,” Guardiola recently said.

“He’s a modern-day player,” Peter Crouch said on TNT Sports after Forest’s recent 7-0 win over Brighton. “Back in our day, players with that ability were almost luxury players.

“But the amount of work he gets through and the pressing – if you want to play a high press he can do that, if you want to sit back he’s transitional and when you win the ball he carries it and invariably picks the right pass.

“[He does] a bit of everything and he does it really well; he can get goals, create goals, he’s very clever in the way he goes down for the penalty – he won’t thank me for saying this – but he accentuates the foul, very intelligent.”

Meanwhile, Gary Lineker previously said of Gibbs-White: “I’ve admired him for years, I’ve always thought he’s got something.”

City Ground icon Stuart Pearce also sung Gibbs-White’s praises after the midfielder’s first England call-up.

Pearce said last year, as per Tribal Football: “Someone sent me something the other day saying he’s the first England player since me in 1997!

“For the club, it’s fantastic kudos and just shows where they are going again.

“He’s done brilliantly well – last year I don’t think he did as well as the season before, but he’s an exciting talent, the manager knows him well and has worked with him well.”
