Patrick Mekari, an offensive lineman with six years of experience, agreed to a new deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mekari was a former undrafted free agent who played for the Baltimore Ravens his whole career.
Agree to Contract Patrick Mekari, Jacksonville Jaguars The California product spent the 2024 season bouncing around a shifting Ravens offensive line, playing both guard and tackle. He finished with a 59.0 PFF grade, the 50th-best mark out of 76 eligible guards, though it’s important to note that grade is artificially deflated because he played out of position for a portion of the season. Mekari’s versatility was crucial in helping the Ravens win the AFC North, but their hopes of winning a championship were dashed when they suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
After the 2019 NFL Draft, Patrick Mekari first joined the league as an undrafted free agent. The California product made five starts in 11 games after signing with the Baltimore Ravens. After an unexpected loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Ravens, led by second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson, concluded the season with the best record in the AFC but were eliminated in the playoffs.
In the COVID-affected 2020 season, Mekari went back to playing as a reserve. The second-year pro made eight starts in 14 games while missing two due to the epidemic. In 2021, he got a bigger role by making 13 starts and started 12 games. Unfortunately, Lamar Jackson’s late-season injury prevented the Ravens from qualifying for the playoffs.
Mekari played well, but in 2022 and 2023 he went back to being a backup who did everything. The undrafted free agent performed well when given the chance, playing in 33 games overall and earning 11 starts.
Patrick Mekari has made 53 starts and played in 88 games since agreeing to his rookie contract. The California product has qualified for the playoffs while playing, but he has not yet won or played in a Super Bowl.
