In response to a new Celtic chant, Maeda says one line.
After scoring another goal in yesterday’s 2-0 victory over Hibernian, Daizen Maeda responded to his new Celtic song.
After Jordan Smith made a great stop on Nicolas Kuhn’s shot, the attacker took the lead 39 minutes in.
Maeda was poised to score his 27th goal of the season by following up.
Following his goal, Celtic Park was filled with the sound of The Champs’ “Tequila,”
with fans yelling “Maeda” as the chorus reached a high note.
The 27-year-old responded to the shout on social media on Sunday night. Maeda wrote only,
“Thank you for the wonderful song!” on X.
Maeda is now one of Scotland’s most prolific players, having scored 13 goals in his previous 13 appearances.
Since Kyogo Furuhashi’s surprise mid-season departure to Rennes, he has elevated his game to
a whole new level and is having his finest goalscoring season in green and white to date.
Since being used more frequently as a center-forward, Maeda has more than stood up to the plate,
despite Brendan Rodgers’ desire to sign a new number nine during the January transfer window.
