Derby County will be missing 10 players for Frank Lampard’s first return with Coventry City
Derby County have been gripped with a multitude of fresh injury worries that has seriously depleted John Eustace’s options for their clash against Coventry City on Tuesday (7.45pm).
After guiding the Rams to their first win of 2025 against his old club Blackburn Rovers at the weekend to move them to within four points of safety, Eustace now faces the task of trying to upset an in-form Sky Blues side who are challenging for promotion under former Derby boss Frank Lampard. The Chelsea legend as transformed the West Midlands club’s fortunes with nine Championship wins out of their last 10 games – the best sequence of league results in the club’s history.
But former Coventry skipper Eustace’s cause has not been helped by the addition of more players to the treatment table that looks to deprive him of 10 players for the midweek match at Pride Park.
The headline news is that £800,000 January signing Lars-Jorgen Salvesen is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery that has seen the Norwegian have some cartilage cleared out of his knee in what is an issue with his meniscus.
The defender suffered a hamstring injury in training in midweek and will be out of the game tomorrow.
Lars-Jorgen Salvesen
The Norwegian striker, who only joined in January from Viking FK is out for the season after damaging his knee after falling in training last week. Has since undergone surgery to clear up his cartilage. The problem is an issue with his meniscus rather than his ACL as some had speculated.
Kemar Roofe
The striker pulled up in training on Friday with a hamstring injury and will miss the game tomorrow.
Ben Osborn
The former Nottingham Forest midfielder is out for up to eight weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.
Sondre Langas
The centre-back had to come off in the second half of the game on Saturday with a knock. Could be doubtful for Tuesday night.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
The winger had been due to feature in the defeat to Middlesbrough but suffered a knock to his knee in training the day before the game. Subsequently missed the game against Blackburn at the weekend.
David Ozoh
The influential on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder was carried off on a stretcher with a thigh injury, and a scan last week has confirmed Derby’s worst fears – he will be out for the season.
Corey Blackett-Taylor
The winger looks certain to be out of the clash after damaging his hamstring in the defeat to Cardiff. Blackett-Taylor had been patiently biding his time for a start, but had to be replaced in the second half. He is now out for a lengthy period.
Dajaune Brown
The striker added to the Rams’ list of injury woes by damaging his hamstring after coming on as a second-half substitute against Sunderland. He was sent for a scan and subsequently required surgery on the muscle. He is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
Curtis Nelson
The centre-back is out for the season after damaging his ACL in what is a huge blow for Derby given he was one of their most reliable performers.
