Leeds United players’ verbal sparring match and Daniel Farke’s referee assistance during lost opportunities
The top three are now only two points apart after Leeds United’s 1-0 loss to Portsmouth on Sunday. After going on a 17-game winning streak, the team suffered their first league loss since late November. Daniel Farke was disappointed with the way Colby Bishop scored the game-winning goal, splitting the center-backs to take advantage of a misunderstanding between Joe Rodon and Illan Meslier to chip the ball home. Here are a few moments that fans may have missed during the afternoon at Fratton Park.
Meslier was furious with Rodon as the ball struck the net, and he immediately returned the favor. The goalie seems to believe that he should have cleared the ball himself or that his defender ought to have called for him to come out.
The Welshman indicated that he thought his goalie should have arrived to collect when Meslier raised his hands in the air. The verbal battle wasn’t the only one.
Midway through the second half, the ball was out of play due to crossed wires between Rodon and Jayden Bogle. Both Bogle and Rodon indicated to one another what they believed had occurred. Although they promptly moved on from the incident, it captured the team’s frustration to some extent.
