Simon Jordan responds to Newcastle United’s transfer announcement, saying it’s “great to hear.”

Eddie Howe said it’s “great to hear” that Newcastle United will “spend to the max” this summer.

Newcastle reported revenues of £320.3m this week, a club record and a 28% year-over-year increase.

Whether the Magpies qualify for the Champions League or not will affect Newcastle’s summer budget,

but these strong accounts from the previous season are still part

of the club’s overall three-year cycle heading into the upcoming window,

which CEO Darren Eales said makes it “easier” to “invest in the future.

“Following a string of frustrating windows, Eales reaffirmed that

Newcastle would “spend to the max” within PSR regulations and that the

CEO is “excited” for the upcoming summer due to the alignment between

Howe and Paul Mitchell, the sporting director, regarding the target profile.

Howe has obviously had more important things to deal with than going

hrough the club’s financial records, including devising a strategy for

West Ham and beyond without Sven Botman, Lewis Hall, and Anthony Gordon.

However, has the Newcastle manager taken Eales’ words of encouragement?

There is undoubtedly more work to be done. Newcastle’s revenue has nearly

doubled from £180 million in 2022 to £320.3 million in 2024, but the Magpies

still have a long way to go to match Manchester City’s haul of £715 million.

“It’s good to see the revenues are going the right way. We’re doing what we

can in terms of trying to expand all our income growth and the club have said

many times that they will always try to maximise the spending allowed under the current rules,

which is great to hear.”
