‘Tired’ – QPR verdict delivered by former EFL player ahead of West Brom clash

QPR have had a few ‘tired’ performances over recent times, EFL pundit Sam Parkin has said.

QPR lost 2-1 at home to Sheffield United last time out. Michael Frey got their goal from the penalty spot against the Blades but they weren’t able to find an equaliser.

The R’s are sat in 14th place in the Championship table as they prepare to face West Brom this weekend. They are eight points off the play-offs with 11 fixtures left to play.

Ex-Luton Town and Ipswich Town player Parkin has said on the Benjamin Bloom YouTube channel:“There were some real good spells in the game (against Sheffield United) but I didn’t really feel that QPR were going to win that game. I think obviously the season is going to end mid-table. It could have been a hell of a lot worse. I think those play-off aspirations of a few weeks ago have just subsided now.

“I’m going to go for West Brom (to win) here. There were a few tired performances I thought from QPR after the efforts of the last kind of month, six weeks. It was a good result for West Brom at Elland Road. I will go for a 1-0.”

QPR latest

QPR’s season is starting to peter out and they are comfortably in mid-table.

They could still make a late push for the top six if they can hit form again. However, there are a lot of teams between them and 6th position and time is running out.

The Hoops started this campaign slowly and it looked likely that they would be in a relegation battle.

However, they managed to turn their fortunes around and starting to pick up results on a regular basis earlier this winter which saw them pull away from the drop zone.

Cifuentes has done a steady job since taking over the R’s back in October 2023.

He has won 32.72% of matches in charge of the London outfit and will want his team to end this term on a high.

Prior to his move to England, he had spells at Sandefjord, Aab and Hammarby.

What now for QPR?

QPR are in for a tough test against a West Brom outfit eyeing promotion to the Premier League.

The Baggies lost Carlos Corberan to Valencia in December and subsequently replaced him with the experienced Tony Mowbray.

They drew 1-1 away at Leeds United in their last match.
