A £2 million deal for a Manchester City teenager fell down in January in Derby County.
According to The Telegraph, Derby County agreed to pay £2 million for Jacob Wright,
a midfielder for Manchester City, in January.
Early this year, Derby County enjoyed a memorable January transfer window.
The players who didn’t show up at Pride Park are more important than DCFC’s respectable additions.
As star defender Eiran Cashin left for Brighton & Hove Albion, there were several rumors that
transactions and planned trades were falling through. Their decline to the bottom of the Championship table
has been exacerbated by the winter window’s shortcomings. The Telegraph and reliable reporter John
Percy have now revealed new information on a botched Rams trade.
Derby County reportedly paid £2 million to buy Jacob Wright, a midfielder for Manchester City,
inThe 19-year-old’s transfer attempt failed because City was unsure if he would fit in with DCFC’s style of play,
despite their agreement to hold a medical. Wright would later sign a loan-to-buy deal with Championship rivals Norwich City,
which is said to have “stunned” Derby, who were forced to scramble late in the transfer window for midfield additions and
ultimately landed Harrison Armstrong from Everton on a temporary basis. A sought-after player,
news of Derby County’s interest is new, but multiple clubs were linked to him in January.
