Sunday will be the second hectic day for the Atlanta Falcons this weekend as two more candidates will be

interviewed by team executives and owner Arthur Blank for the open coaching position.

Ejiro Evero, the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, and Anthony Weaver, the associate

head coach and defensive line coach for the Baltimore Ravens, are slated to interview with the Falcons on Sunday.

Despite their recent catastrophic 2-15 season, which raised long-term concerns about the competence of

owner David Tepper and quarterback Bryce Young,

the Panthers actually finished fourth in the league in total defense in 2023 under head coach Tony Evero.

Prior to joining what was Frank Reich’s staff in Carolina, Evero had been the defensive coordinator for

the Denver Broncos in 2022, following five years on Sean McVay’s staff with the Los Angeles Rams.

Evero is an intriguing prospect to interview, especially because the Panthers coaching position is once again up for grabs.

Even if the 43-year-old isn’t hired, he might end up being the defensive coordinator if an offensive coordinator is hired.

Weaver, meantime, has enjoyed a successful coaching career after playing defensive end for the

Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans for portions of seven seasons in the NFL.

Weaver, who was the Texans’ defensive coordinator in 2020, became a member of John Harbaugh’s

Baltimore staff before the 2021 season.

The Falcons have already had interviews this weekend with defensive coordinators Mike Macdonald of

the Ravens, Brian Callahan of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Steve Wilks of the San Francisco 49ers.

Evero and Weaver join a growing group of contenders to replace Arthur Smith. Antonio Pierce, the

interim coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, has allegedly received an interview slip from the Falcons as well.

Naturally, some of the most successful coaches in the sport are towering over some of the applicants who

have already had interviews in Atlanta or will do so in the near future.

Currently available free agents Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, Jim Harbaugh, and Pete Carroll should all be

considered by the Falcons before selecting their next team captain.
