Latest news: £350,000-a-week a star, set to leave Celtic; he may not play again

I think it’s fair to say that recruitment at Celtic is the one area that has been on the receiving end of some very intense criticism of late.

Indeed, it has been a major source of frustration for Celtic fans for several years.

Apart from Ange Postecoglou’s debut season, Celtic’s signing policy has been irregular.

When it does, it yields dividends. Discovering gems like Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley is balanced by lavishing a generous portion of change on others like Alexandro Bernabei.
And it was the Argentine who caught Stephen McGinn’s eye after the 23-year-old failed to persuade him that he is talented enough to play for Celtic after being employed as cover for the injured Greg Taylor.

Will Alexandro Bernabei play for Celtic again?
Stephen McGinn has obviously questioned this. The Falkirk captain and radio analyst is still skeptical,

believing that his time in Paradise may be limited. McGinn stated on [The Go Radio Football Show],

“Isn’t it a game [Kilmarnock] where you can find a space for Nawrocki in the lineup if Greg Taylor has to come off?

“Can you put Liam Scales to left back because he’s more likely to defend your back post than Bernabie who,

I don’t know, should he ever wear a Celtic strip again?”Based on what we’ve seen at Celtic over the last two and a half seasons,

Bernabei is unlikely to be deployed again this season.

Bernabei, who fell foul of Rodgers after missing a team meeting for the season opener against Aberdeen at Pittodrie,

has had a difficult time convincing the Celtic boss that he belongs in his team.

Bernabei’s failure to impress against Ross County and Aberdeen, as well as his involvement in Kilmarnock’s equaliser last weekend,

may have persuaded Rodgers to at least consider strengthening that part of the club in the upcoming summer window.

In other news,’sign him now’… Charlie Mulgrew claims Motherwell has a player who could easily play for Celtic.
