According to reports, La Liga powerhouse Barcelona is considering a part-exchange agreement to capture Atletico Madrid’s 25-year-old Argentine international Julian Alvarez.
The Spanish publication Fichajes reported that FC Barcelona is interested in Julian Alvarez. The Atletico Madrid stalwart is the target of the Catalan giants, who are eager to add a striker during the summer transfer window.
In order to sign the Argentine international, they are willing to pay €60 million and include Ferran Torres in the deal.
Julian Alvarez and his accomplishments with Atletico Madrid
Since moving to Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in a high-profile move last summer, Julian Alvarez has become one of La Liga’s top performers. After a rocky start to life in the Spanish city, the South American attacker has made significant progress, albeit experiencing teething issues in the early going of the 2024–25 season.
The 25-year-old has contributed to an incredible 2024–25 season thus far, scoring 20 goals and dishing out five assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. Alvarez’s development, meantime, has drawn notice from a number of prestigious teams around Europe.
The Argentine international has been connected to Manchester United in recent rumors. By offering Ferran Torres and €60 million in exchange for the Atletico Madrid staple, Barcelona hopes to outbid the competition for Alvarez’s services during the summer transfer window.
