The first NFL club to win the Super Bowl in back-to-back years since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the 2000s is the Kansas City Chiefs. Naturally, their objective for the 2024 season is to become the first NFL club since the 1965–67 Green Bay Packers (whose run included the 1965 NFL Championship and Super Bowls I and II) to win three consecutive championships.

The Chiefs must start restocking their roster and replacing players who will be available to sign free agents if they hope to repeat. Tommy Townsend, a punter, was one of the players thought to have left.

Having signed Matt Araiza, a former 2022 sixth round pick,

the Chiefs anticipated he would leave for a higher wage elsewhere.

Matt Araiza, dubbed the Punt God for his thunderous kicks while attending San Diego State University,

was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He earned a starting position on the Bills’ special teams after having a strong training camp and preseason.

But prior to the start of the season,

Araiza was mentioned in a lawsuit where he was charged of sexually assaulting a woman at a college party.

The Bills cut him loose right away. At the time of the alleged occurrence,

the lady who made the claims against Araiza and other San Diego State football players was 17 years old.

At the time, Araiza was 20 years old.

Araiza countersued the defendant for defamation not long after being mentioned in the original complaint.

Authorities’ and San Diego State’s investigations revealed that the punter wasn’t even

there at the party when the alleged assault happened.

The accuser had lied, according to transcripts of her conversations with the authorities:

Although a civil lawsuit against other football players is still pending,

the authorities have chosen not to file any charges. Araiza was removed from the lawsuit, as previously stated.
