Defender Tino Livramento of Newcastle United has agreed to a two-year contract with Manchester City.
The Telegraph claims that Manchester City has made Tino Livramento, a full-back for Newcastle United, a target for a move before the summer transfer window opens.
After moving to St James’ Park in 2023, the 22-year-old Magpies star has made a name for himself there and forced his way into the England national squad.
Livramento’s success at Newcastle won him his debut for the Three Lions last November,
and Man City have grown attracted to him as manager Pep Guardiola wants to rebuild his
squad ahead of 2025-26.The former Southampton player has played 31 games for the
Toons this season in all competitions, and it is anticipated that new England manager
Thomas Tuchel will call him up for the March international matches.
Man City is looking to replace the late Kyle Walker, and they think Livramento will be the
ideal long-term replacement. However, it is unclear if Newcastle will be willing to part
with a player who has such enormous potential so quickly. Guardiola values Livramento’s
ability to play both left-back and right-back. Newcastle could qualify for the
Champions League next season and end the campaign with a major trophy for the first time since 1955,
and doing either could help them hold on to Livramento and other stars. However,
failure to do so and PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) concerns could force
them to cash in on him, and other clubs could join Man City in their pursuit of
his services should he become available. Despite their struggles this season,
Man City remain attractive suitors, and the Magpies defender could be tempted to
join them in order to increase his chances of winning the Premier League title and
other major domestic and European trophies to help him.
