Ferguson may unleash a “wonderful” 18-year-old to set Rangers on fire.
Barry Ferguson, a former central midfielder and Scotland international,
will serve as Glasgow Rangers’ temporary manager until the end of the current campaign,
the club has declared. After the Ibrox giants’ 2-0 loss to St Mirren on Saturday left them
13 points behind Celtic in the fight for the Scottish Premiership title,
Philippe Clement was relieved of his duties on Sunday.
They may have chosen to go with an interim until the new ownership can
decide on the club’s long-term course in the summer because a takeover
involving the San Francisco 49ers’ investment wing is anticipated to be finished between April and June.
However, there are still a few of months and games left until the 2024–25 season ends,
and Ferguson will get the opportunity to captain the team in both the Premiership and the Europa League.
Barry Ferguson’s to-do list for the Rangers
The former Rangers player’s job is to keep the team stable and make sure
the person taking control in the summer has a strong foundation.
Ferguson and his backroom staff will thus need to put in a lot of effort to
prevent the team from going down a dark path filled with multiple humiliating losses before the season ends.
Next month, Rangers will play Fenerbahce in the Europa League’s round of 16,
and advancement in that competition would be advantageous.
