Fulham boss Marco Silva explains Crystal Palace defeat and reveals Emile Smith-Rowe injury problem
Marco Silva believes Crystal Palace were more mature as they secured a 2-0 Premier League win over his Fulham side on Saturday.
The Eagles scored in each half at Craven Cottage, with a Joachim Andersen own goal and a strike from Daniel Munoz securing Palace’s straight fifth 2-0 away win in all competitions.
Fulham failed to register a shot on target during the match and missed out on the chance to move up to seventh in the league table.
“It was a performance below the standards,” said Silva.
“We knew that before the match it was going to be a tough game – they make it really difficult for any team they play against on the road.
“We knew it would be difficult to break them down. We moved the ball too slowly in the first half.
“They showed respect to us. Our last decision – cross or chance – was not at the level. The first half, we didn’t create many chances.
“These types of games can happen. We had one or two dangerous moments.
“The other part of the game – the ugly parts – the duals and challenges, we have to be there.
“They scored their first when the game was balanced. Every time we had the chance to counter-attack, they stopped us with tactical fouls or yellow cards.
“They were much more mature than us in that moment and much more aggressive.
“The Premier League is like that.”
The summer signing from Arsenal went down and required treatment at the start of the second half.
Smith-Rowe came back on but went down again instantly before hobbling off down the tunnel.
He was replaced by Andreas Pereira.
“It was a knock on his ankle,” added Silva.
“It was difficult for him to stay in the game.”
