49ers takeover announcement imminent after shock Leeds news
Leeds United’s owners, 49ers Enterprises, have a major development on their hands, as a
prospective takeover bid has emerged.

The 49ers took over the Whites in the summer of 2023 and now appear to be interested in
acquiring another club.
While nothing is etched in stone about the potential takeover, despite the sale of some of the 49ers’ assets previously being considered, it appears that a deal is close to being reached, with the impact
on the West Yorkshire club unknown.
49ers close to completing takeover of Rangers
Leeds’ current chairman, Paraag Marathe, has played a key role in the potential takeover of
Rangers, with the American billionaire already establishing himself as a force to be reckoned
with at Elland Road.
And now, Keith Jackson of the Daily Record (19 February), who broke the news on the advanced
talks between the Gers and the 49ers-led group, expects a declaration from the 49ers “very soon.”
Jackson stated that conversations had been ongoing for months, implying that the relationship
between all concerned parties will be well established.
“I suppose it dates back to the end of last year, so roughly four months of negotiations. “It’s not just something that has come to light or someone coming to the table and expressing an interest,” he explained.
“There have been many negotiations, and we are now at a place where something like a statement
may be issued very soon. I’d anticipate a statement indicating at least some talks or an offer.
Leeds United owners making moves away from Elland Road
Since the 49ers took over the West Yorkshire outfit in 2023, things have gone relatively well.
While the Whites were unable to gain promotion to the Premier League last season, it appears that
Leeds will win the Championship this season. Which, in the end of the day, is probably all Leeds fans want.
They’ve been one of the most powerful forces in the Championship since the 2024/25 season began,
and with the Rangers potentially being acquired by the 49ers in the future, it seems like things will
only get better from here.
There will still be a lot of moving parts in the deal, and nothing is ever put in stone in sport, but if
talks progress as Jackson claims, the 49ers might become owners of yet another British football team.
