Since winning the Scottish Premiership title in 2021, Rangers player recruitment leaves a lot to be desired.
There have been individuals with promise and players like Malik Tillman, Abdallah Sima and Vaclav Cerny who have made an impact, unfortunately, they have only been on loan – what might have been.
One player who is the standard for the current player trading model is Calvin Bassey, bought for a token development fee, but remains Rangers record transfer sale and lighting up the Premier League.

Given his status as a home grown player in England, it would be a surprise if his form for Fulham hasn’t made “bigger” teams sit up and take notice.
What it has done though, is seen UK based streamer and content creator Kaysosa team up with Bassey’s Nigeria teammate Ola Aian to prank the former Ibrox hero.
Claiming to be from a scouting agency, Bassey is “offered” £265,000 per week, only to see their plan collapse when their number was recognised.
“Do you think I’m dumb?!” Bassey laughs as he sends the pair packing.
It’s the sort of offer that might be as unrealistic as it first seems given Fulham’s lofty Premier League position and Bassey’s growing reputation since leaving Rangers.
Bassey gets off the mark against Nottingam Forest
The 25-year old scored his first goal of the season with the winner against Nottingham Forest at the weekend with Bassey delighted to get off the mark, via Fulham’s official website:
