Jarrad Branthwaite leads Real Madrid’s three-man centre back shortlist – with Carlo Ancelotti keen to reunite with £75m-rated Everton star
Real Madrid is monitoring Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the summer transfer
window.

The England international, who made his Everton debut under Carlo Ancelotti, has continued to improve under David Moyes and was a standout performer for the Toffees in last week’s thrilling
derby against Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Real Madrid want to replace Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Eder Militao, who are all showing
signs of wear and strain in their defence.
They have put together a list that includes left-sided centre back Branthwaite, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, who has a £50 million release clause.
Everton value Branthwaite at roughly £75 million, having rejected proposals worth around £50
million from Manchester United last summer, while Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have
kept an eye on his growth.
Although the 22-year-old is under contract until 2027, Everton has yet to begin conversations about
a new contract.
Club owners Friedkin Group intend to invest in Everton’s team this summer, and there is expected
to be a significant turnover of players, with a lot of Moyes’ players out of contract. However, in order
to comply with PSR standards, they may be required to sell.
Subsequent interest in Branthwaite from Real Madrid or other top Champions League clubs may
be difficult to ignore, as the player is said to be ready to try himself at that level as soon as possible.
The Spanish giants want to reduce their squad’s age, and Branthwaite is younger than Liverpool’s Konate, despite the fact that the 25-year-old France international has more Champions League experience.
Konate is yet to agree on a new contract with Liverpool, which has piqued Real’s interest, while
Huijsen’s emergence this season, along with a set clause, is also appealing.
