‘Period of silence’ to take place ahead of Bayern Munich vs Celtic
A ‘period of silence’ will take place ahead of the Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Celtic.
A minute’s silence has been arranged prior to kick-off in memory of the victims of the tragic attack in Munich last week.
More than 30 people were injured and a mother and child, two, died from injuries after a car rammed into civilians at a labour demonstration in the German city.
A service of remembrance was held on Monday, February 17 at the Dome (Frauenkirche) in the Marienplatz in Munich with Celtic supporters urged to be “mindful”.
Travelling supporters have now been informed of the minute’s silence at the Allianz Arena tonight.
A message posted on the Celtic FC SLO social media account confirmed: “Prior to kick off at tonight’s match there will be a period of silence in memory of the victims of last weeks tragic incident in Munich.”
A club statement read: “We have been informed today (Monday) by the local authorities in Munich that a memorial service will take place in the city centre following the tragic attack last week which saw more than 30 ınjured and a mother and two-year-old child lose their lives.
“The service will take place at the Dome (Frauenkirche) in the Marienplatz area and we ask that our supporters are aware and mindful that this service is taking place at 6pm this evening.
“Thank you for your support.”
An SLO update added: “We wish to make fans aware of a memorial service taking place in Munich city centre Marienplatz at 6pm this evening following the tragic incident last week.
“We ask that our supporters in Munich are mindful of this service.
“Thank you for your support.”
