The latest on Derby County investment: John Eustace’s remarks, David Clowes’ position, and discussions

John Eustace has admitted that Derby County is trying to increase club funding.

Owner David Clowes has discussed the situation and potential investors with the incoming head coach of the Rams.

These remarks follow months of conjecture over potential outside investment,

and they come halfway through the third year since Clowes Developments got the club out of administration.

The main priority right now is to stay in the Championship this season, but it’s now obvious that efforts are

being made behind the scenes to attract investment down the road. For the most recent information on this potential investment, visit DerbyshireLive.

Clowes speaks

Our understanding of the possible investment
Clowes has already had discussions with possible investors and is willing to sell up to 80% of his Derby shares,

but no agreement is in the works. Any deal might include requirements for Clowes to

continue as chairman and for the investors to share the club’s values and goals.

As far as DerbyshireLive is aware, there is no prospectus for investors, thus no such materials have been distributed

to interested parties, and the club and stadium will continue to be owned jointly as part of any new investment.

According to the club’s current business plan, they have enough money for the next two campaigns as well as the rest of this one.

Eustace’s words
In his first press conference since taking over as Derby’s new head coach on Thursday,

Eustace discussed the topic of possible investment. “There might be a prospect of investors,

but I know the club is working very hard to bring more investment in,” he stated.
