A top-tier club has signed a former winger from Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, and Chesterfield.
Following a stint on the free agent market, former Leeds United winger Gboly Ariyibi
has made a transfer to the top division.
Leeds gave the 30-year-old his professional debut after he began his career at Southampton.
In December 2013, under Brian McDermott’s leadership, the Whites signed him to a short-term contract.
The American-born player made two first-team appearances for Leeds before going on loan to Tranmere Rovers,
where injuries ended his run. With Chesterfield, Ariyibi recovered, and the Spireites did enough to draw Nottingham Forest’s attention. The winger, who spent the majority of his time as a Forest player on loan, travelled overseas and played in Greece and Turkey in recent years before securing a move to the Portuguese top division and joining Boavista as part of the team’s recruitment drive. Ariyibi was introduced alongside eight other players, including former Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa and former Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel. Os Axadrezados, who are currently in last place in Primeira Liga, also signed former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik.
