Newcastle United really want Nottingham Forest star who is worth more than £50m
Nottingham Forest will face a summer of uncertainty to a certain extent as a number of top players will come under consideration for other clubs.
The Reds could well get into European competition for 2025/26, with Forest currently sitting in third place in the Premier League table and are going brilliantly at the moment.
Murillo is being eyed by Chelsea in the summer. The Blues saw a bid rejected in January for the Brazilian defender and it looks certain that they will return for the centre-back when the window reopens at the end of the season.
Elsewhere, Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson have been courted by Liverpool. The champions-elect will go in search of new recruits in the summer and Arne Slot is thought to be a fan of both Forest players.
Others will be the subject of interest too and now, Newcastle are thought to be considering a move to sign a very important player who has thrived under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Newcastle still like Forest star Anthony Elanga
Newcastle tried desperately to sign Elanga in the summer. Forest rejected their offer worth up to £50 million with limited time left available to get a replacement over the line in the summer window.
The Carabao Cup finalists have now let Miguel Almiron leave St James’ Park and as a result, Ben Jacobs has told Give Me Sport that a new right winger will be in their sights for the summer.
He said: “Newcastle will absolutely sign a right winger. Put your mortgage on it. They’ve got to replace Miguel Almiron. Amongst others, they still like Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.”
Forest will hope to keep hold of some of their star players next season and if European football is secured, it seems unlikely that many would push too hard for a move away from the club.
Anthony Elanga stats 2024/25
Elanga is the quickest player in the Forest squad. He has pace to burn defenders and he has been a real asset for Forest in recent weeks on the pitch with Callum Hudson-Odoi injured.
When Elanga and Hudson-Odoi play in tandem, the Reds get some real joy on the counter. In the absence of the former Chelsea man, Elanga has stepped up and he’s growing as a player.
Elanga only cost Forest £15 million from Manchester United. He was constantly overlooked at Old Trafford and given their plight this season, they might wish they’d clung on to him.
Newcastle will have to dig deep to sign Elanga. He was valued at £50 million last summer and if he leads Forest into Europe this time around, his valuation will have skyrocketed over 12 months.
