Arsenal considering new transfer attempt for Stoke City player

Premier League giants Arsenal made an approach to sign young Stoke City defender Jaden Dixon on Deadline Day, and they remain interested in a deal after nothing materialised last week.

17-year-old Dixon has enjoyed a rapid rise to become a regular fixture in Stoke’s senior squad over the last 12 months, after he joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in 2023, then made the senior bench for the first time at Leicester City last October.

The defender, who was born in London, can occupy the positions of centre-back and right-back. He started training regularly with the first team during the middle of last season and signed his first professional contract with the club last summer.

This term, he has increased his efforts even more.

Today, Football Insider reported that Arsenal inquired about Stoke talent Dixon on transfer Deadline Day last week and are continuing to monitor his availability as they seek to add young defensive reinforcements following Ayden Heaven’s departure to Manchester United.

It is uncertain whether the Potters would have been amenable to letting Dixon go at such a late stage of the transfer window, but any action from the Gunners would probably have required a considerable financial outlay, considering the 17-year-old’s promise as evidenced by his emergence at the bet365 Stadium this season.
