Beni Baningime, a Hearts midfielder, has recovered from exhaustion suffered against Motherwell and is available for

Saturday’s trip to Rangers.

He was substituted at halftime in the 2-0 victory at Tynecastle Park due to a cramp, but he has trained at Riccarton

this week.

The news is a boost for the Edinburgh club, which is looking to extend its 12-match unbeaten streak in all

competitions.

They travel to Ibrox to face the Premiership leaders, and Baningime is now a contender to play.

He has started the last seven games for Hearts, contributing to the team’s recent strong run of play.

They are expected to be without defender Craig Halkett, who saw a specialist this week about a knee injury sustained

in a Scottish Cup match against Airdrie earlier this month.

He has been excluded from first-team training practices as a precaution while medical personnel await the

specialist’s decision.

Midfielder Peter Haring is also unavailable. He received an injection after suffering a knee injury against Livingston

last month, but the problem has not resolved.

Hearts has now decided to refer him to a specialist for additional assessment.

They will wait to see how that appointment goes in the hopes that Haring will be able to return to the squad soon.

Winger Barrie McKay is improving from his knee injury and should return to duty next month after being absent

since late December.

Forward Liam Boyce is on crutches after hamstring tendon surgery and isn’t scheduled to return until late March or

early April.
